Wymagania systemowe sieci
Niewystarczająca ilość switchów, gniazd lub kabli może powodować powstawanie typowych kwestii problematycznych podczas intensywnego korzystania z sieci. WLAN może być uzupełnieniem sieci LAN.
Switch
A switch is the central component in a computer network through which pass all data packages in a network. The switches available on the market can differ a lot from one another. You will find simple, cheap switches as well as more powerful switches from a higher price range. Attention, the mentioned amount of Gigabit is not an indication of the speed with which data packages are sent to the correct address. It is better to look at the capacity and transmission speed of the switch. When it comes to speed, there are big differences between devices.
Criteria to consider:
- Number of ports (connections), e.g. 24P, 48P.
- Powerful MSME switches are better dance 100 Gbps.
- Can the server connection switch be equipped with 10Gbit modules?
- Is Power over Ethernet (PoE) required, i.e., power on the network, for example for IP telephony?
- Does the switch have management functions?
Network cabling
The current cabling standard is 1 Gbit internal network cabling. 10 Gbit ethernet is only required in special cases. Old 100 Mbit cabling must be replaced.
The cabling in a simple network:
- From computer with network connection via patch cable to wall outlet
- From socket via internal cabling to patch panel (= connection element for all cables
- From patch panel via patch cable to switch
- From switch to server via patch cable or fiber-optic cable
Criteria to consider:
- Each computer must be connected directly to the switch via a cable.
- Use a Cat-7 network cable.
- Avoid sub-distribution through smaller switches or hubs.
- If there are multiple floors and switches per floor, they must be connected to the main switch (= backbone) with a high bandwidth.
- The network cable must be tested. Defective cables or power adapters in the circuit are dangerous and must be replaced.
- If necessary, an electrician can measure and log the wiring of the building (if there are problems).
Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
Data throughput of the WLAN decreases according to the distance between transmitter and receiver. In addition, the bandwidth is shared by the number of network devices. For a professional network, it is therefore recommended to use a cable connection.
