Working with Project Sharing Server

Starting with Vectorworks 2024, Teamwork has been completely redesigned to ensure that project data and geometry are always up to date within a project file. The Project Sharing Server tracks every change, which means you have one less thing to check in the quality assurance process. Stability has improved significantly regardless of the size of your team or project.

The following steps will help you get started with the Project Sharing Server easily and easily:

  • Install the Project Sharing Server.
  • In Vectorworks, open the file you want to convert to a Project Sharing file.
  • Navigate to the menu File/Project Sharing. The dialog “Project Sharing Setup” will open.
  • Check the "On server" option and click "Edit...".
  • Choose the server and path where the project file will be saved. By default, there is a folder called "Projects", unless otherwise set up during installation.
  • Select OK and Finish to close all windows.
  • The document is now saved as a project document (.vwxp) on the server. From now on, any collaborator can get started in a working document (.vwxw), which synchronizes your work to the project file. This working document can be saved locally.

Other collaborators can also participate in the teamwork project by following the steps below:

  • Navigate to the menu File/Open Server-based Project File.
  • Select the server and the project folder. By default, there is a folder "Projects", unless otherwise set up during installation.
  • Select the project document.
  • Vectorworks will automatically create a personal working document that you can save locally.
