I have placed light sources but I don't see any light

As of Vectorworks 2023

As of Vectorworks 2023, there is no longer a limit on the number of light sources that can be calculated in Shaded. If the drawing still doesn't show all light sources, we recommend checking the document settings. To do this, go to the menu File/Document Settings/Document Preferences. Check the following options in the “Display” tab:

• Limit the shaded rendering method to 8 light sources: uncheck this option so that all light sources are visible in the shaded view.
• Limit the shaded rendering method to 8 shadows: uncheck this option so that all light sources also cast shadows.

The 2 options are disabled by default in new documents. For older documents or templates created for Vectorworks 2023, the options still need to be unchecked.

Until Vectorworks 2022

When working in the shaded (up to Vectorworks 2021 OpenGL) render style, there is a limit of 8 light sources that visibly emit light per drawing. The light of all other light sources will not be calculated. With “Renderworks” fast or extended Renderworks Styles such as “Interior Fast” all light sources will be calculated, as well as their reflection.

Some symbols such as cooker hoods and light fixtures also contain light sources. These are included in the limit of 8 light sources per drawing.
The visualization palette allows you to find a list of the number and type of light sources. To do this, go to Window/Palettes/Visualization Palette.
